Hunter’s work explores outsiderhood, especially themes of youth, labor, and purpose. His filmmaking is noted for its sophisticated comedic realism and immersive editing.
A self-taught filmmaker, Hunter gained experience by working closely with the independent production companies of Gummy Films and Simone Films.
His debut narrative short film ALL THE WORDS ON THE PAGE premiered in competition at the 30th Palm Springs International ShortFest before screening at festivals throughout North America, including NewFilmmakers LA, Pendance Film Festival, and The Downtown Festival NYC, among other festivals.
A graduate of Marymount Manhattan College, Hunter began his career in the theatre, assisting directors at New York Theatre Workshop, The Wooster Group, and Big Dance Theater, before moving into cinema, where his voice has emerged as a distinct new presence in American Independent cinema.
Currently, Hunter is in post-production of his sophomore short film and developing feature films.
